Impactful Financial Advice
From One Professor to Another
Welcome
I’m Scott Grissom, but my students called me Professor G. I was a college professor for many years and now I mentor professors like you to confidently manage their finances.
Are you on track to meet your goals? Do you understand all aspects of your finances? Are you confident in the choices you have made? Would you benefit from an expert second opinion?
I help you gain confidence rather than feel weighed down with doubt. I help you gain clarity about your options rather than confused. Working side by side, I teach you how to move from academic freedom to financial freedom.

Founder and Money Mentor
As professors, we help students develop an academic plan to achieve their education goals. As a money mentor, I help you develop a financial plan to achieve your life goals.
As professors, we thoughtfully prepare for our first day of class. As a money mentor, I help you thoughtfully prepare for your first day of retirement.
How I help professors like you
As your money mentor, I help you answer three questions. 1) Where are you now? 2) Where do you want to go? 3) How can you get there?
We co-develop a custom financial plan around your specific needs and goals. Are you on track for retirement? Do you understand your investments? Do you have effective financial habits leading to your success? Are your loved ones protected if you were to die or become disabled? Are you confident about your financial future?
Meetings occur virtually on a video call. We start with a free Introductory Meeting. I will listen to your concerns and explain how I can help.
The next step is a Getting Organized virtual meeting after you sign a planning agreement. You will be asked to collect and share documents in a secure online vault such as tax returns, paystub, portfolio statements, monthly spending, insurance documents, and possibly estate planning documents. I then get to work to create a net worth statement, portfolio analysis, and monthly cash flow statement.
Our second virtual meeting is called Refining Your Goals. We review your current financial situation and identify prioritized goals such as travel, retirement, and other large expenses. I then create a deeper analysis of your goals and develop specific actions for your consideration.
Our third meeting is called Embracing Your Plan. I present your custom financial plan and recommendations for achieving your highest priority goals. We brainstorm on effective strategies for you to work on over the next several months.
Our final meeting is a brief Check-in several weeks later. What actions have you taken and what results have you seen? Do you have additional questions?

Client Story: Emily & Charles
Emily, 57, and Charles, 60, are on the tail end of raising three successful children with the youngest about to graduate from high school. Emily works for a large private university in the Midwest and Charles works for a state agency. He has a sizeable whole life policy with rising premiums. They have done a good job saving for retirement but were unsure when they could each stop working and maintain their standard of living. They have travel goals, home remodeling dreams, and want to support their children with weddings, education, and grandchildren. After working together for several weeks, I was able to reassure them they are indeed on target for Emily to retire at 60 and for Charles to work as long as he wants to. They benefited from a net worth statement, investment portfolio analysis, life insurance analysis, retirement projection, and an estate plan review. They appreciated an objective second opinion and clarity for their financial future.
